Summer, 1946. Jacques Cousteau takes his son Philippe by the hand and leads him into the warm waters of the Mediterranean. Thanks to a small diving suit made especially for him, the boy is able to breathe underwater for the first time in his life. Entranced, he discovers this world of silence that his father was the first to explore. This bewitching and magical world with its multi-coloured fauna. Summer, 1946. Jacques Cousteau takes his son Philippe by the hand and leads him into the warm waters of the Mediterranean. Thanks to a small diving suit made especially for him, the boy is able to breathe underwater for the first time in his life. Entranced, he discovers this world of silence that his father was the first to explore. This bewitching and magical world with its multi-coloured fauna. Ten years later when Philippe, now grown, reunites with Jacques on board the Calypso, he discovers that his adored father has changed a great deal. Now a star thanks to cinema and television, Jacques travels the world. He has one increasingly megalomaniac project after another: dreaming of transplanting gills to men and building cities under the sea. Caught up in a frantic headlong race, Jacques is destroying everything. First of all, his family. But also this underwater world discovered twenty years earlier. A world to which pollution and progress are beginning to lay waste.
